High five ✋ you finally worked up the courage to take your business digital by going live, recording videos or offering video conferencing (or working from home was forced on you by a pandemic… whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️) I’m here to reassure you, even if you’re totally scared, you will live to tell the tale of the time you went live!f

Here’s a few tricks to conquer video as a newbie:
1️⃣ embrace the suck… everyone is a beginner at some point. If you don’t understand all the functions of what you’re using, just tell people in the beginning, I’m new at this so thanks for being patient with me!

2️⃣embrace your mistakes… the way I do this is by going live. That may sound crazy but here me out… i give myself more grace when I watch a replay when I’ve just “gone live” rather something pre-recorded that I watch over and over before I’ll ever post- if I ever do- because “my voice is annoying” or “ugh, I said sooo like 150 times.” It’s easier for me to start my live by saying “friends, I will stumble, I will probably swear… I’m apologizing now. Have grace.” And jump into my message.

3️⃣ embrace the chaos… I used to use my “chaos” as an excuse not to do video. My kids are nuts, it’s never quiet, my office is dirty… and now i understand that’s the beauty of working with me. I am a multitasking (somewhat) domestic queen of my Kingdom… 😂 people like to see real, especially when you embrace it, it makes them feel not so inadequate for even just a few moments. It shows them, if she can do that with a baby on her hip or a stain on her shirt… maybe I can too.

4️⃣find your angle… you were made perfectly unique just the way you are, but listen, everybody has a “best angle” and don’t overthink that… but most typically it isn’t from underneath your chin 😬 after working with an amazing photographer Bianca, she showed me a super simple way to find out how to make yourself look “most flattering” in photos & videos… use a “tic tac toe” board, and take one photo looking at each piece of the board. High and left, high and middle, high and right, straight on but angled to the left, middle, right, chin down left, middle, right… and then choose which you believe is best and execute it by finding where to place your phone to get that look! this is a super easy way to get a quick boost of confidence because you’ll realize what works and what may not?

5️⃣and lastly… by now we, through our endless scroll, have all come across the video of the poor girl who just didn’t understand how video conferencing works-I’ll leave it at that. Please remember that when video conferencing, your camera (and sometimes mic/headphones) goes where you do. If you have in AirPods and leave the room to yell at your kids (I’ve done this) everyone can still hear you 😬😬😬 if you take your computer with you so you can still hear- they can also most likely still see… please just take note of that!

Now get out there and rock that video! 🎥 oh and share which angle is best for you in the comments! Mine is straight on in the center #5a
